The painter and graphic artist Aksel Jørgensen (
) was himself an outstanding technician and art connoisseur. From
he was pro-
fessor in the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and was of particular importance as head of the Academy’s Department of Graphic Art.
The photograph was the work of a professional photographer with an address in the Christianshavn area of Copenhagen, close to Hammers-
høi’s apartment in Strandgade.
